Really?  Yeah, you might not like your parents decisions – but they still are your parents!

Raised in a $1.5 million Barrington Hills home by their attorney father, two grown children have spent the last two years pursuing a unique lawsuit against their mom for “bad mothering” damages allegedly caused when she failed to buy toys for one and sent another a birthday card he didn’t like.

The alleged offenses include failing to take her daughter to a car show, telling her then-7-year-old son to buckle his seat belt or she would contact police, “haggling” over the amount to spend on party dresses and calling her daughter at midnight to ask that she return home from celebrating homecoming.

I’ve decided that I’m ditching my aliases and going to start all over – new identity.  So, Kansas County Clerk person, I’ve been living as a missionary in American Samoa for like 20 years and I need a copy of my birth certificate.

What wonderful things you can find in the New York Times.

From Lifehacker:

The video’s only two and a half minutes, but unless you understand Japanese (or can read the Chinese subtitles), jump straight to the 1:52 mark to get the picture. Reddit user binarysolo offers this loose translation:

Roll down a window on a side of the car. Let’s go with the driver’s side window. Go to the opposite side door (in this case, passenger side) and open/close it ~5 times. Just do this normally.

imageThere has never been a Border’s store near me (there are Barnes & Noble stores much, much closer), though I used to shop a lot at Waldenbooks.  Well today Border’s announced they are starting to close their stores effective at the end of this week and running through September.

What is the future of publishing?  Is Amazon all it is cracked up to be?

Yesterday you could “commute” for $4.00 over LA.  Of course it was a publicity stunt, but think if you could commute by plane.  If you have been to Cantigny, you know that the Colonel could commute into the city and be at Meigs in about 11 minutes.  That’s about a 45 minute car drive!  Think of how that would make a drive on the Eisenhower so much easier!

Now, I am part of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, but the PCA shares our view on homosexuality and ordination.  Their (the PCA) stated clerk (head of the denomination) printed a response on the PCA website at: http://byfaithonline.com/page/pca-news/taylor-issues-statement-regarding-pcas-position-on-sexuality-and-ordination

Interesting read (including the attachments, of course) if you’d like to know more about why non-PCUSA Presbyterians believe this.

It’s not the students who cheated in Atlanta.  It’s the teachers.  And the principals:

Prosecutors are weighing whether to file any criminal charges against 178 Atlanta teachers and principals who state investigators said had cheated on standardized tests to inflate student scores.

The cheating in 2009, found in 44 of the 56 Atlanta public schools examined, was prompted primarily by pressure to meet targets in a data-driven environment, a statement released by Governor Nathan Deal’s office said.

Rev. Gene Veith has an article called “And now, consensual adultery”.

You see, Illinois just passed a Civil Unions law last month, and certainly Gay Marriage will follow.  Where does this slippery slope go?

From the NYT article in their Magazine:

[Rep. Anthony Weiner's] visage was insisting, night after night, that we think about how hard monogamy is, how hard marriage is and about whether we make unrealistic demands on the institution and on ourselves.
