Yesterday you could “commute” for $4.00 over LA.  Of course it was a publicity stunt, but think if you could commute by plane.  If you have been to Cantigny, you know that the Colonel could commute into the city and be at Meigs in about 11 minutes.  That’s about a 45 minute car drive!  Think of how that would make a drive on the Eisenhower so much easier!

Woo hoo!  I got myself a brand new library card yesterday!

When I was applying for the card, I noticed that they had a clock on the wall that had the CPL logo on the background.  Of course, it was much more like it’s inspiration from the Chicago Cultural Center…which originally was the Chicago Public Library:

I was browsing my Google Reader and noticed that Pastor Alms came up with a wonderful site whilst he was browsing.  I , liking architecture, was excited to see it.  What is even better is that it is from Chicago!

He says This is cool…  I tend to agree.  You see, a lady by the name of Nicole Donohoe from the Chicago School of the Art Institute (a wonderful collection) made up this site with a neighborhood map allowing you to search for these treasures.  See if you can recognize any of these ads for goods and services which have long since fallen out of existence.

Not every fast food restaurant has all trans fat foods. Chick-fil-A(R) has eliminated artificial trans fat from its entire menu, from entrees to condiments. Chick-fil-A's core menu items, including its signature Chick-fil-A(R) Chicken Sandwich, have been free of trans fat since their respective introductions, dating as far back as the chain's first restaurant in the 1960s.
From the Chicago Tribune

Yup, apparently Chick-Fil-A’s sandwiches are Trans Fat free and always has been.  Doesn’t that just look oh so good.

The other day I had the opportunity to drive through Naperville on Illinois 59.  My goodness was it a mess near the tollway!  I recall the state wants to put in Diverging Diamond Interchanges at this intersection and I think that might just be a cool design…

I think about the interchange at Torrence Avenue and I-80.  It seems to help keep the traffic problems down (I sometimes go out this way to church).  This is called a Single Point Interchange.  If you haven’t been out that way, check out this video:

image Ok, if you haven’t used the CTA, you are missing out on alot.  I was skeptical several years ago when I decided to take a bus and the "L" rather than drive, but was pleasantly suprised.  It is cheaper than driving, more environmentally friendly, and traffic really doesn’t matter (after all have you seen how the bus drivers drive!).

Well, the CTA recently made a Bus Tracker application so you can see when the busses arrive.  Although it does not have one of the routes that I use, about 1/3 of the routes will be live on Monday.  It is a fantastic service allowing you to determine when the next bus is due in!    More will arrive in July.  Works from the mobile phone as well…

I waited with great anticipation last Sunday for Pastor Juhl’s announcement on whether he is accepting the call to Our Savior in Momence. The announcement came, I was excited and said “I have to welcome him to the district” and promptly got busy with work and never welcomed Pastor Juhl.

So, here it is – Welcome to the Northern Illinois District.

Today I had to journey into Chicago – Streeterville to be exact. Well, if I attended my home church, I would not have made it in time so I decided to visit a church closer to the city. This would be Apostles in Melrose Park.

The service was wonderful, though it was LW DS1, which I haven’t been apart of recently, Pr. Tausz chanted the service, something i haven’t seen since the days at CSL and Pr. Burreson. I am so excited and hope that if you are his way to stop by and see a little high church.
